Calling All Knitting Experts! Help I’m confused?

Okay so I’ve been knitting for about 5 years now. I’ve only made scarves and basic handbags and ipod cases by sewing pieces together with a yarn needle. lol i think i may have broken some knitting rules while doing this but oh well lol. I really want to start doing more advanced things like leg warmers, hats, and gloves. But I don’t know how too at all. I know they make knitting patterns but I don’t know how to read them.

Ways to learn more about knitting and have fun too:
1. Check your local yarn shop (LYS) for lessons.
2. Check with your local community college’s lifelong learning or continuing education division for classes.
3. Join a knitting group. Some meet at yarn shops, some meet at people’s houses, some meet at yarn shops–there are groups in almost every town. Your church may sponsor a knitting ministry, and joining would provide you with opportunities to knit for others as well as to learn new techniques.
