Romantic Inspiration

Which of the following statements was NOT an effect of World War I?
A. The war ended a period of almost 50 years of relative peace in Europe and left people feeling that their ideals and values were destroyed.
B. The war gave new inspiration to modern movements in art and literature.
C. The methods of total war proved effective and popular and were adopted for all subsequent wars.
D. The war damaged the Romantic, traditional depiction of war as something glorious and noble.
definitely not C. It was neither effective nor popular. it’s a pretty poor question, and i would go w/ B, pointing toward Dadaism, Futurism, and New Objectivity in visual art. D would also be sort of correct, with the horrific photographs that came back from the trenches. But in regard to C, the 30 Years War, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Franco-Prussian war were also “total wars”, and subsequent wars were not *all* “total wars” by any means (Yugoslavia, Vietnam, etc.)
